Then the color shifted!! Notice the vertical streak near the center. That's not a lens flare of my camera... it was a real feature of the sunset.

Sometimes the colors around here just amaze me. I used no filters on the camera. This is how it actually looked.

I hope you all don't mind but I'm taking a short rest from painting while I build some canvases. In the mean time I'm posting un-retouched photos that I've taken of some pretty wonderful skies. These shots have not been altered in any way other than resizing them smaller. This one was taken Sunday at around noon out on Shelter Island. The hole in the clouds where the sun shines through looks like the hand of God could reach through at any moment.

A couple of us "desperados" stayed in the park until dark but sold nada. At least we were treated to a wonderful sunset. We'll try it again today and hope for more customers. Wish us luck!
