These are all little oil paintings that I do from digital photos that I take around here. If they are mistaken for actual photos then I am very pleased but in reality they are all done with oil paints on gessoed masonite boards.
My only advice for anyone that paints is to keep doing it. The more you do anything the better you get at it so paint, paint, and then paint some more.
I was lucky enough when I was in high school, way back in the early seventies, to have a couple of good art teachers that taught me a lot of the fundamentals about perspective, color and composition. Along the way I was a professional freelance sculptor for the giftware industry for about fifteen years and that experience helped tremendously. It was very hard to take their critique and their making me change what I had done to suit them but in the long run it made me far more frugal with my time and to get things more accurate the first time I touched them instead of working and re-working pieces.
